말그릇 (Mal-Gereut - Vessel of Language) workshop

말그릇 was a creative ceramic painting workshop developed by Kittie Me Ceramics to explore a more playful, personal, and creative approach to Hangeul (the Korean writing system).

Rather than approaching Hangeul through traditional writing or calligraphy practices, the concept invited participants to engage with the language through painting, combining meaningful Korean words or phrases with their own illustrations, colours, and patterns on handmade ceramic cups.

Each participant was encouraged to express their individual thoughts, feelings, and stories, transforming an everyday object into something uniquely personal. Accompanied by Korean tea and desserts, the workshop offered a relaxed and welcoming environment for creative exploration and cultural connection.

Developed in collaboration with Bijoo (Smart K Agency) and hosted at NIO House Rotterdam, the workshop brought together seven participants to experience Hangeul not simply as a writing system, but as a medium for artistic expression.
