Little Moments, Colours, and Clay
Kittie Me is a small ceramic studio founded by Korean ceramist Mina So in the Netherlands. Rooted in her Fine Arts background, the studio brings together observation, imagination, and an ongoing curiosity about how moments, memories, and stories can take shape through clay.
From playful Tea Companions to double-lid cups and small everyday objects, each piece is made in small batches, bringing together practical function, individuality, and sculptural character.
At the heart of Kittie Me is a simple wish: to create objects that bring a little warmth, curiosity, and happiness into everyday life.
Much of Mina's work begins with a particular moment that captures her attention: an orchid slowly opening, waves washing across a sandy shore, or the meeting of molten lava and seawater.
Rather than reproducing these scenes literally, she explores the relationships between their colours, movements, and changing forms through ceramic glazes.
By experimenting with layers, textures, and the interactions of materials during firing, she seeks to translate these fleeting impressions into the surfaces of everyday objects.
Some experiments unfold as imagined, while others reveal something unexpected. Both become part of an ongoing exploration of what colour and material can express.
Finding Words for Colours
Language is another important part of Mina's creative practice.
Drawing from her Korean heritage, she explores how words can capture subtle impressions of nature, colour, and everyday experiences.
Many of Kittie Me's pieces are named using 순우리말 (sun-urimal) — native Korean words that carry distinctive meanings and associations.
For Mina, naming is more than a finishing detail. Words can help give shape to an observation, reveal connections between different elements, and offer another way of understanding a piece.
Some of these meanings are difficult to translate directly into another language. Through her ceramics, Mina hopes to share not only the words themselves, but also the perspectives and cultural nuances they carry.
The path
Small Companions, Individual Stories
Kittie Me's Tea Companions began with Mina's memories of the warmth and comfort she experienced through her childhood cat.
Over time, this personal inspiration has grown into an imaginative world of small ceramic characters, each with its own personality, gestures, and story.
Rather than recreating a particular animal, Mina imagines new companions that might bring a sense of familiarity, affection, or quiet joy into someone's day.
Although her glaze explorations and Tea Companions begin with different inspirations, both are shaped by observation, imagination, and the desire to give intangible experiences a tangible form.

Whether it is a cup held between two hands or a small Companion resting beside a teapot, each piece is created to be used, enjoyed, and lived with.
Kittie Me celebrates the possibility that even the smallest objects can carry their own stories — and gradually become part of ours.

Each piece begins with clay and an idea, gradually taking shape through hand-building, glazing, and firing. No two pieces are quite alike. Subtle differences in form, expression, and glaze become part of their individual character — traces of the hands, materials, and experiments behind them.
