Kittie Me is a ceramic brand by Korean ceramist Mina So, creating small-batch objects shaped around animals, tea, and the quiet rituals of everyday life. Its signature pieces include companion teapots, double-lid cups, and dessert plates.
Kittie Me's pieces grow from an affection for animals, tea, and the colours found in everyday moments — small things that bring warmth and comfort to daily life. Drawing from her Korean background and her life between cultures, Mina creates functional ceramics with sculptural, playful details, made to be used, lived with, and quietly become part of someone's everyday routine.
Colour plays an integral role in shaping each theme and carries its own language within Kittie Me. Each piece is given a name drawn from 순우리말 (sun-urimal) — native Korean words chosen to capture the particular colour, atmosphere, or moment held within it.
Korean is rich in words that express subtle distinctions in colour, nature, feeling, and fleeting moments of everyday life. A single word can hold an image or nuance that does not always remain intact when translated into another language. For Mina, these words offer a way to name not simply what a piece looks like, but the particular moment or feeling it is intended to hold.
The name therefore becomes part of the piece's identity. Colour becomes a moment, the moment finds its word, and that word takes form through clay. Naming each piece in 순우리말 is Kittie Me's way of preserving and sharing a small part of the Korean language through everyday objects — while expressing the cultural identity from which the work grows.
The path
Korea to the Netherlands
Born in South Korea, I studied Fine Arts before crossing continents for a Master's in Cultural Economics. School sharpened how I see art and culture. Inspiration, though, has always come from something closer.
Growing up, my closest friend was my cat, Arong-ee. Her quiet warmth shaped how I see the world—that the greatest comfort is often the simplest: a familiar presence, simply there. That feeling found its way into the work—companions made to sit beside you, not to demand attention.
